BELISA Welcomes OPIC to South Africa

In July of 2018, the United States government’s development finance institution announced a $1 billion dollar investment in Sub Sahara Africa through the Connect Africa Initiative. The Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC) travelled to six African countries to promote investment in infrastructure, communications and value-chain-connectivity projects. In South Africa, senior members of the OPIC team, including Ray Washburne and William Doffermyre, paid a visit to BELISA's facility. They visited both the Westonaria Borwa Mega City Development and BELISA’s Westonaria Borwa factory. This factory plans to use state of the art technology and green building materials to provide 16,000 new homes for entry level home buyers. The OPIC team is interested in financing this BELISA low-cost housing project.
